Arctic skua (Stercorarius parasiticus)

Size: 41 – 46 cm
Population at Anda: Does not breed on the island

The arctic skua is specialized in stealing food from other birds. They are very fast and skilled fliers and chase other birds until they lose they catch. The puffins are especially attractive for skuas due to their weak flying skills. They will harass the puffins until they drop their catch or otherwise force the puffins to crash into the surface and lose the fish from their beak.
