Size: 38 – 40 cm

The kittiwakes nest in loud and large colonies and can be found on most houses and cliffs in Stø. They appear suddenly one day in March to clean and prepare their nests, many weeks before they lay eggs in late May. In September they move to the open sea and live a pelagic life during winter.  They are common around fishing vessel until the end of November but the coldest winter months they spend far offshore.
