Atlantic White-sided dolphin (Lagenorhynchus acutus)

ca 2,5 m, 180-230 kg

The Atlantic White-sided dolphin occurs in the whole North Atlantic Ocean. They seem to prefer areas close to the continental shelf where they feed on different species of fish and squid. They live in groups and group sizes of 30 animals. They are distinctively coloured with a yellow patch found behind the dorsal fin of the on each side. It is believed that they can live up to 40 years old.
